The purposes of this Association are to support and
advance the interests and general welfare of Villa Maria Academy, to
enhance, cultivate and foster a sense of community among its membership,
to promote the spiritual growth of its members, and to maintain and
advance the cause of single sex education for women.
All women who attended Villa Maria Academy and who either
graduated or left Villa Maria in good standing are members of the Alumnae
Association.
The Alumnae Board represents the members of the Association
as its administrative branch. With the assistance of volunteers from
the Association, the Board sponsors alumnae events and strives to fulfill
the purposes of the Association.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
There are many opportunities for alumnae to become actively involved
in alumnae programs at Villa Maria Academy.
· Class Representatives
Class Representatives are a vital part of Villa Maria Academy and
are among the most active and visible volunteers of the school. As
liaisons between the school and their class, the representatives promote
attendance at alumnae events and contact classmates for the various
activities sponsored by the Alumnae Association.
· Alumnae Board Member
Alumnae are encouraged to become active members of the Board. The
Board meets officially twice a year. Special meetings may be called
if necessary. The members of the Board are responsible for the planning
of Alumnae events.
· Alumnae Annual Giving
Annual Giving, our ongoing fundraising program that provides an essential
component of the school's operating funds, sustains academic excellence
at Villa Maria. Alumnae support is of critical importance to the success
of the Annual Fund each year.
· Career Day
Alumnae are invited back to Villa Maria to speak at our annual Career
Day. Following a keynote address, alumnae panelist representing a
wide range of careers make presentations to the students on the fields
such as Business/Law, Health/Science, Education, and Communication.
· Phone-a-thon
Members of the Alumnae will call graduates to solicit funds for the
Annual Fund.
· Nominator
Participate by nominating individuals for Ars Liberalis Award. Forms
will be in the newsletter and online.
The following events are sponsored by Villa Maria
Academy and the Alumnae Association.
· Alumnae Induction
The newest members of the Alumnae Association, the current graduating
class of Villa Maria Academy, are received into the Association in
May. Alumnae mothers and grandmothers of senior class members are
invited guests. The Elinor Langton Award winner is announced at the
Induction Ceremony. Everyone is invited to an informal reception following
the ceremony.
· Alumnae Luncheon
The luncheon is held in the spring. All are invited to attend. We
particularly encourage the honor classes
(5,10, 15, 20,25, 50
..years) to attend. These reunions are especially
enjoyable.
The Alumnae Association awards the following each
year:
· The Sister Mary Kelly Scholarship:
The SMK Scholarship is given annually to an incoming freshman.
· The Dr. Elinor Langton Award
This award is presented annually to a graduating senior.
