All of us are aware of the importance of a nest egg. In challenging times, a nest egg could prove to be the sole source of survival. Villa Maria Academy
is celebrating the 135th anniversary of its founding. Presently, the school relies on school tuition and fund-raisers as its only basis of income. With the
establishment of the Office of Institutional Advancement, we are introducing the goal of creating an Endowment Fund to insure the future of Villa Maria
Academy.

What is an endowment fund?
A financial endowment is a donation of money or property to an institution, with
the stipulation that it be invested, and the principal remain intact. This
allows for the donation to have a much greater impact than if it were spent all at once. It also ensures that Villa Maria will be equipped with the necessary
means to maintain a tradition of excellence for future generations of young women.

Villa Maria’s Endowment Fund will provide additional income to supplements the school's annual operating budget. Endowed funds provide for the l
ong-term health of the Academy, assuring that Villa Maria will have the resources to continue to provide educational opportunities through scholarship
aid and to maintain an outstanding faculty.

Planned gifts play a vital role in increasing the Academy's endowment. An endowed fund generates income for the purpose specified by the donor, in
accordance with the investment policies established by the Academy's Board of Control, and may be established at a variety of gift levels, in honor of
or in memory of an individual. If you would like information on establishing an endowed fund, please contact the Director of Advancement by phone
at 610-644-2551 (ext. 1031)

Buy a Brick
Outright gifts to the Endowment, through the Alumnae Pathway to Excellence, provide a special opportunity for Villa Maria alumnae to support scholarship aid. Gifts are recognized with an engraved brick on the Circle Pathway to the Marian Center. For information on purchasing a brick, please visit the Alumnae Pathway to Excellence. The cost of inclusion in the Alumnae Pathway to Excellence is $100.00.

ADVANCING THE MISSION OF VILLA MARIA ACADEMY

.

The newly-created Office of Institutional Advancement will be responsible for alumnae relations, marketing, public relations, volunteer programs and fundraising for Villa Maria Academy. Sister Patricia Spingler, IHM, Ed.D., as the director of this office, hopes to connect the members of the school community to one another and to seek support to achieve the goals of the Academy by working with parents, alumnae, foundations and friends.

Views of Villa, the quarterly publication is produced by the Office of Institutional advancement. It contains information about the present and past school achievements, activities and timely news. Please email Sister Patricia Spingler at spspingler@vmahs.org when you have news to share with the school community and alumnae.

VILLA MARIA ANNUAL FUND

.

The Annual fund is crucial to strengthening the educational experience of every student, and maintaining our campus. Examples of the ways that Annual Fund gift is used include:

continuous technology upgrades,
  • state of the art science and lab equipment;
  • financial aid for deserving students;
  • scholarships;
  • resources for teachers;
  • maintenance of the physical plant.

We count on the support of our Alumnae, parents, and friends to insure the ongoing excellence of Villa Maria Academy.

A goal of the Office for Institutional Advancement this year is to establish an Endowment Fund. The Villa Maria Endowment Fund will be a permanent savings vehicle established for the support of this all-girls Catholic institution. Every school needs endowment funds which are not part of the school's regular operating budget. These are funds which can be used to fill in the inevitable gaps and shortfalls which every school faces in its financial operations.

The investment income of the endowment fund may be used for the operation of Villa Maria, for capital expenditures and for the recruitment and retention of students. The growth of the portfolio is not subject to tax, and every donor receives tax deductions for gifts made to the endowment. . Endowed funds provide for the long-term health of the Academy assuring that we will have the resources necessary to provide education through scholarship aid and to maintain the academic excellence long associated with Villa Maria.

Proceeds from this year’s Golf Outing will be for the Villa Maria Endowment Fund.
