Villa Maria’s artists and musicians put their skills on display at this year’s Fine Arts Festival. Artwork covered the walls of the Marian Center, as students from all the art classes showed work created throughout the year. There were self portraits, colorful graffiti-inspired projects, pottery, photography, pencil and charcoal studies, sculptures, and nature-themed work.
Villa’s many musicians entertained the auditorium crowd with pieces ranging from classical and folk music to classic rock and a pop song. Two pieces were dedicated to Penelope Beckers, Villa’s voice teacher who passed away last year.
Vocal performances included the traditional Irish song Bonny Wood Green, performed by the Madrigal Singers. The Concert Chorus performed The Trolley Song from the movie Meet Me in St. Louis, and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift .
Instrumental performances included the String Ensemble playing Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, 1st Movement; the Handbell Choir performing Set Fire to the Rain; and the Orchestra playing Jupiter – Bringer of Jollity from Th e Planets by Holst.
