Spanish Students Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Mrs. Diane Riordan’s Spanish students celebrated Cinco de Mayo, the fifth of May, with some Mexican treats and handmade decorations. Students researched the meaning of the event and discussed its significance with classmates. In Mexico it commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. In the U.S., Cinco de Mayo is observed as a celebration of Mexican heritage.
