Villa Maria students, faculty and staff celebrated the opening of the new school year with a liturgy in the Marian Center. Father James Flynn, O.S.A., was the celebrant. Father Flynn urged the girls to look at the new school year as a blank slate, and to see themselves and each other as God does, full of goodness and promise.
“Be yourself,” Fr. Flynn said in his homily. “Put the old you aside and put on a whole new aura about yourself. An aura that is proud, not in a bad way, but proud of who you are…. Make this the best year of your life because that is what God wants for you.”
The Mass closed with the distribution of rosary bracelets to students, faculty and staff , to be worn as reminders to “go forth and forever be a faithful witness.”
