The entire school celebrated IHM Founders Day with the Villa Maria sisters on Monday, November 10. The day included an assembly featuring a presentation on the IHM Sisters’ history and mission, with flowers and prayers offered to each sister.
A highlight of the gathering was a question and answer session, in which the sisters answered questions submitted by students. The girls wanted to know whether the sisters had dated before joining the convent, how old they were when they chose their vocation, and whether they ever regretted their decision. The sisters’ frank answers — yes on dating, around college age for joining the convent, and a resounding “no” on regrets — gave everyone a more personal connection to the women who have dedicated themselves to Villa Maria and the IHM Sisters.
Lunch time featured a contest in which students tried to match the sisters to their childhood pictures, and students, faculty and staff all received chocolate-covered pretzels handmade by the sisters.
The Villa Maria community is grateful the hard work, dedication and caring of all the IHM Sisters.
