Erika Miller receives Outstanding Athlete Award

Erika Miller and Terry Loper proudly display their Outstanding Athlete Awards from the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Valley Forge Chapter 1777.

In recognition of her performance as the Villa Maria state championship field hockey team’s goalie, senior Erika Miller was named Outstanding Chester County Female Athlete for 2014 by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Valley Forge Chapter 1777. At a dinner held February 22, State Senator Andy Dinnamin presented the award and a citation from the state of Pennsylvania to Erika and Terry Loper, Outstanding Chester County Male athlete and running back from West Chester Rustin High School.

On the way to a state championship, Erika played a critical role, stopping 175 shots on the season, including 59 in post season games, while posting a 91 percent save percentage. She will play for Villanova University next year.
