Math Classes Celebrate the Ultimate Pi Day

IMG_1071Mrs. Markowski’s math classes celebrated Pi Day one day early on Friday, March 13, 2015. This year’s Pi Day is called the Ultimate Pi Day because the date 3/14/15 describes the first five digits of pi, 3.1415. She encouraged the girls to celebrate tomorrow night at 9.26:53 a.m. or p.m., when the date and time together will describe pi’s first 10 digits.

Students enjoyed cookies decorated with pi, served in a pi plate, along with their lesson.

Mrs. Markowski also offered the following links for more pi fun.

  • Mile of Pi. A video showing the distanced covered by a printout with the first million digits of pi.
  • Pi number search page. Enter a string of numbers, like your birthdate, and the program will search pi and tell you if the string occurs within it.
