Villa Maria gathered in the auditorium on April 15 to recognize seniors participating in spring sports, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the swim team, which won its fifth straight state title in March.
As the swim team sat on stage, coach Cathy Hay discussed what it takes to achieve and sustain excellence, saying that it begins with the swimmers themselves. She finished by thanking the IHM Sisters for being role models, and for maintaining a school philosophy that recognizes the importance of competition through sports and other activities. After the team was recognized and applauded, the girls watched a video recapping their championship season.
After the swimmers left the stage, seniors from lacrosse, softball and track were called to the stage to be recognized for their contributions to Hurricane sports.
The rally closed with a dance competition, with numbers performed by representatives from each grade. Freshmen won the contest, followed by seniors, juniors, and sophomores.
