On Wednesday, October 14, the freshmen class was privileged to take part in an integrative wellness program led by 1995 Villa graduate Dee Ruley Person. Together with Lara Krawchuck, a licensed social worker, and Edna Valentino, (VMA ’94), the program’s goal was to educate, inspire, and empower.
The students rotated through three breakout sessions. The topics included: “Inspiration: Don’t be afraid to be great;” “Respect through compassion for oneself and others;” and, “Gratitude through perspective,” an experiential session stressing the importance of meditation and relaxation to help one’s self to navigate through a fast-paced world.
The overall theme of StudioDee Girls Institute is “Resilient and Unstoppable.” Dee has called upon her own resilience as an Annapolis graduate and female combat veteran of the military operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. She serves currently as a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy Reserve Forces. For more information visit www.studiodeewellness.com
