Villa Maria’s Director of Curriculum Jeane McNamara was inducted into Sun Valley High School’s Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 12, 2015. The honor reflects her impact on the school during her years there, as well as her accomplishments as an aluma.
Mrs. McNamara is in her 8th year at Villa Maria Academy, capping a 25 year career in education, both as a classroom teacher, professional trainer and a building and program administrator. With a B.S. in Economics and a Master’s in Education from Widener University, Mrs. McNamara holds Pennsylvania teaching certifications in Secondary Social Studies and English, Reading Specialist K-12, and administrative certifications in Curriculum and Instruction Supervision and Elementary and Secondary Principalship.
Jeane’s professional experiences included teaching positions at Benchmark School in Media, Pennsylvania and Sun Valley High School in Aston, Pennsylvania, where she taught Advanced Placement US History and was also the Assistant Principal. As a member of the faculty at Conestoga High School in 1999, Mrs. McNamara taught Advanced Placement Micro and Macroeconomic and received honors from the Foundation for Teaching Economics as the National Excellence in Economics Education ‘Teacher of the Year’. That same year she was named a Northeastern regional semi-finalist in the National Council of Economics Education/NASDAQ Foundation National Economics Teacher of the Year program. Her most recent experiences prior to Villa Maria included 8 years as a mentor teacher and online programs director for the Foundation for Teaching Economics and as a part time teacher at Malvern Preparatory School. She served as the Vice Chair of the Pennsylvania Association of Independent School’s Professional Development Committee. Recently, she was the first educator in Chester County to be selected to participate in the Graduate Executive Leadership Institute sponsored by the Chester County Community Foundation. Since 2013 she has served as the Vice Chair of the Phoenixville Borough Beautification Advisory Commission.
Jeane McNamara shares her passion for learning with her husband, Bill, a fellow educator, and her children, Colin, Maggie Rose and Sean.
