On Sunday, November 22nd, freshman Jillian Williamson was awarded her Girl Scout Silver Award. Jillian earned the award for her work in educating the community about how to properly handle the American Flag. She attended local community parades to educate others about to appropriately “retire” a flag once it is worn out. Her project concluded with an official flag burning ceremony at which over 500 flags were retired.
The Silver Award is the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn. The scout must be in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade, be a registered Girl Scout Cadette, have completed a Cadette Journey, and complete a Silver Award project.
