Mary Jane Raymond ’78, CFO at II-VI Inc. and president of the Villa Maria Alumnae Association, met with the AP Microeconomics class on Friday, February 26. In a boardroom-style conversation, she shared her thoughts and experiences on keys to becoming a successful woman in the workplace. Raymond encouraged the students to always, “do the homework, but to never forgot the human experience.”
Students shared their Villa experiences that have made them successful as students, and discussed opportunities to lead, to feel confident, to push through struggles, and to tap into a woman’s natural strengths and channel emotions effectively. Raymond provided common sense advice for a successful mindset and set the groundwork for limitless possibilities. The alumna joined some of the students for an informal lunch afterwards.
At the end of the session the class presented Raymond with a bouquet to thank her for her involvement with the class throughout the year.
