The Villa Maria Swim Team recognized its seniors at its recent meet against Conestoga High School, and capped the special day with a 103 to 65 victory. Villa scored first place points in 7 of the 12 events, second place points in 8 of the 12 events, and third place points in 10 of the 12 events.
VMA took first in 200 Freestyle Relay, with new relay combination of lead-off senior Emily Cornell and solid contributions by juniors Katelyn Chick, Olivia Giampietro, and sophomore Nina Smith. Villa swept first, second and third places in the 200 IM Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Senior Emily Cornell won the 100 back stroke event within a time of 57.96, with second place scoring support from sophomore Kira Buchler.
As the team progresses through the season, the swimmers and coach Cathy Hay have their eyes on their ultimate goal: a record-setting sixth state title.
