Art students displayed their work at the annual Spring Art Show in the Marian Center on April 28. Seniors and AP Art students each had a display board of multiple works. Work from the other classes was displayed throughout the center.
Students worked in a broad range of media, including oil and acrylic paint, watercolor, pen and ink, pencil, pastel, charcoal, and collage. Pieces included ceramics, landscapes, large self portraits, studies of fruit and flowers, and re-imagined candy boxes.
This year, a number of the students collaborated with the Villa Maria Orchestra and Chorus to close the show with a tribute the IHM Sisters. As the orchestra played and the chorus sang For Good from the show Wicked, a slide show displayed pencil portraits of the sisters drawn by Villa art students. The drawings captured the spirit of each sister, and made for a moving end to the performance.
