Mrs. McNamara’s AP Microeconomics students saw the fruits of their learning in the Design Challenge project take shape this week with the installation of the first Elkay Bottle Filling Station in St. Joseph’s. This is one of two such stations (the other going in Regina Mundi outside of the Cafeteria) and will allow students to access filtered water through the adaptation at the water fountain. The machine also keeps count of how many plastic water bottles have been saved by using the water station. Made possible through the generosity of Alumnae Board President, Mary Jane Raymond ’78, students invested money and also sponsored a refillable water bottle sale in order to raise the necessary funds.
Funds also were directed toward the installation of solar lighting at the Villa Maria signs, which are scheduled for installation in May.
