Villa Maria Field Hockey Wins First District Playoff 14-0

Villa Maria field hockey defeated Springfield 14-0 in their first District One playoff game on Wednesday, October 26. The Hurricanes dominated the game right from the start, scoring in the early minutes, and leading 7-0 in the half. Goals were scored by Mary Harkins (3), Hannah Miller (2), Annina Iacobucci (3), Emily Doyle (2), Ryan Doran (2), Adriana Yacovelli (1), and Lindsay Dickinson (1).

Villa Maria coach Daan Polders commented, “Our goal for today was to find some rhythm after more than a week off. The players were ready to play, which they showed with a series of early goals. Seven different goals scorers and everyone was able to contribute significantly in this game. Executing practice plans worked well for all players and resulted in a good game for us over 60 minutes. We are looking forward to Friday.”

The Hurricanes face 8-seed Radnor in the district quarterfinal on Friday, October 28, at Villa Maria.
