Villa Maria Music Director and violinist Leah Kim and pianist James Correnti performed “La Promenade,” a music recital featuring French pieces. The evening was sponsored by the VMA Tri-M International Music Honor Society, the Art History AP class, and the French Honor society. Special guest Sarah Bacastow, from Villa Maria’s art department, highlighted the period for each piece of music with artwork from the same era. Students from each of the sponsoring groups offered discussions tieing the art to the music. Ms. Kim also discussed her interpretations and thoughts for each of the pieces, elaborating on how she visualizes the music as she plays.
The concert included Sonata for Violin and Piano by Jean Marie LeClair; Sonata in A Minor for Violin and Piano by Cesar Franck; Claire de Lune by Claude Debussy; Meditation de Thais by Jules Massenet; and, Souvenir D’Amerique by Henri Vieuxtemps.
