Villa Maria’s new rowing club has started with the basics: learning to row. The nine girls in the club have taken to the river to develop their skills, and will continue with winter training to prep for the spring racing season.
Coach (and Villa math teacher) Joan Koob says, “I am excited about starting the team because it is a wonderful opportunity for the girls here at Villa. The other cool thing about rowing is that it is a life long sport. I know many rowers who are in their 70s and even 80s who still get out on the river and row a few times a week!”
Coach Koob said she is hoping that more girls will be interested in joining the inaugural nine in doing a winter workout.
