Field Hockey Advances to State Title Game

Villa Maria field hockey advanced to the state championship game with a solid 5-0 victory over Twin Valley on Tuesday, November 14. The Hurricanes will meet Wyoming Valley West in Whitehall, PA, at noon on Saturday, November 18. The upcoming championship game will be Villa’s fifth trip to the final in the last seven years, and the third in the four years with coach Daan Polders.

Villa took the lead early, and ended a dominant first half with a 4-0 lead. Twin Valley made adjustments in the second half, holding the Hurricanes to just one more goal, but were unable to get on the board. Five different Hurricanes scored the five goals: Adriana Yacovelli, Adele Iacobucci, Mary Harkins, Emily Doyle, and Hannah Miller.

The championship game will be at noon on Saturday, November 18, at the Zephyr Sports Complex at Whitehall Coplay School District, 2940 MacArthur Rd, Whitehall, PA 18052, about an hour and fifteen minutes from Villa Maria.
