Villa Maria musicians celebrated the Christmas season with a concert featuring all of the school’s musical performers: Orchestra, Handbell Choir, Madrigal Singers, String Ensemble, and Concert Chorus.
The orchestra opened the show with “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “White Christmas,” Themes from Symphony No. 40″ by Mozart, and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The Handbell Choir followed with several traditional carols, and a piece they called “We Three Kings — with Attitude.” The Madrigal singing group perfromed “Hush, My Babe,” “Psallite,” and “Mary Did You Know,” along with their version of Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy.”
The String Ensemble played three pieces: “Pizzicato Polka,” “Colors of the Wind,” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” The Concert Chorus sang “What Sweeter Music,” “Apple-Tree Wassail,” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” medley.
The Chorus, Orchestra and Handbell Choir joined together in the finale, performing a medley of “Joy to the World,” “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.”
Congratulations to all of the Villa Maria musicians on an excellent concert.
