Pals for Life, a non-profit organization based in Wayne that brings pets to those who need them throughout the Delaware Valley, shared their animals with Villa Maria students and staff on Tuesday, January 30. The animals — four dogs and one rabbit — were brought to the gym, and students visited in groups throughout the afternoon. Students sat in circles to pet the dogs. The rabbit was nestled in a blanket, and was passed from lap to lap.
Volunteers escorted the therapy animals to ensure positive interacctions. Senior Alana Hausker, who volunteers with Pals for Life, brought her black lab Marshall. Alana completed training with Marshall in her sophomore year, and has been taking him to visit schools, hospitals, senior living centers, and other places where pet therapy interactions bring cheer and happiness to people who may feel stressed or lonely.
