Mock Trial Team Finishes Second in District

Villa Maria’s Mock Trial team completed their 2018 season with a strong showing, finishing second in the Chester County district. The Plaintiff Team (left, missing Allison Leyden) won the 4:40 p.m. semifinal round in the playoffs on Tuesday, February 27, advancing to the championship round at 7:00 p.m. The Villa Plaintiffs lost in a very close trial against Henderson High School.

Moderator Mary Kay Napoli commented, “The girls handled themselves beautifully both in  victory and defeat. They were wonderful representatives of all that Villa Maria stands for. It was an honor to work with them.”

Sides were determined by coin toss so the Villa Maria Plaintiff team presented in both rounds. The Defense team was there ready to perform if called, and stayed to support and cheer on their teammates.

The girls also met attorney and Villa alumnae Stephanie Nolan Deviney ’90 at the courthouse, who took time to talk with the girls. Stephanie posed for a photo with team captains Julia Ayres and Sam DiBona.
