Quill and Scroll Honor Society Inducts New Members

Villa Maria’s chapter of The Quill and Scroll International Writing Honor Society reestablished the the original charter started in 1958 with a candle-lit ceremony on May 23rd in the Marian Center. Thirty four students were inducted and welcomed into the Society by Sister Regina Ryan, IHM, Sister Kathleen Dunn, IHM,  Sister Barbara Cook, IHM, and co-moderators Mrs. Megan Filipowicz and Mrs. Laurie Scaggs.

Among the qualifications for membership into Villa Maria’s chapter of the Society are:  a GPA of 3.5 or higher in the last semester; superior work in some phase of high school journalism; published twice in the last year; recommendation by the Villa Maria Quill and Scroll committee; and approval by the Society’s executive director. The Induction ceremony included the distribution of the badge of membership, and a candle lighting ceremony demonstrating the core values of the Society: Truth, Learning, Leadership, Loyalty, Initiative, Integrity, Judgment and Friendship.
