Many members of the Villa Maria freshman class closed out their first year of high school with a trip to Disney World in Orlando, FL. Their first day in Florida was focused on a rest and inspiration seminar. After a breakfast buffet at Orlando’s Embassy Suite, the class danced, sang, and prayed with Rea Larangeira, a retired New Jersey police detective turned Catholic musician youth presenter. She had the girls out of their seats and seeking better ways to believe in God, in themselves, and in God’s plan for them.
The keynote presenter was Lou Mongello, noted Disney author, expert, and podcaster. He talked about the moments of failure in Walt Disney’s life, and how he persevered. Lou also told behind-the-scenes stories about Disney World and famous Disney personalities. Theming his presentation on the word “Imagine,” Lou challenged the students to think about their dreams and ask themselves, “What if?” Some students shared their dreams of being a marine biologist, missionary, actress, or cosmetics developer such name a few.
The afternoon was spent poolside, followed by dinner at Planet Hollywood.
On day 2 of the trip students took part in Disney’s YES Program (Youth Education Series). The theme of the session was, “Developing Your Personal Brand.” Led by Disney cast members, students learned how Disney brands their content and properties, and discovered their own personal brand, receiving suggestions for making it positive, strong, and marketable in the future. The group then skipped the lines onto Rockin’ Rollercoaster and Muppet Vision 3D to see Disney branding in action.
In addition to catching their breath after a fast-paced freshman year, learning about world-famous Disney branding, and developing their own “brand,” the classmates also enjoyed fun in the sun and time with their friends.
