Cross Country Team Battles Elements and Opponents

Villa Maria’s Cross Country Team competed in the Unionville 2 Mile Bash on Saturday, September 8th. Once again the team battled through rain, wind and mud…LOTS of mud! Despite the poor conditions, Caroline Bell (14th place) medaled in the Freshman race while Sarah Raubenheimer (6th place) and Hope Brown (12th place) medaled in the Senior race. It was a great effort by the entire team.

On Wednesday, September 12, the team again raced through unpredictable conditions, facing Mount St. Joseph at the first home meet. A downed tree in the woods shortened the course to 2.3 miles; a downpour just prior to the race left the course very muddy; and, the sun came out to raise the temperature just in time for the start of the race! But once again, the Hurricanes showed their toughness and pulled out a big win! Villa 23, Mount St. Joe’s 32. Villa senior Sarah Raubenheimer won the race with an impressive time of 14:54.

Go Hurricanes!
