Coach Kathy McCartney Inducted into Chester County Sports Hall of Fame

Villa Maria is proud to congratulate our basketball coach Kathy McCartney on her induction into the Chester County Sports Hall of Fame! Kathy was recognized for her accomplishments as both a player and a coach.

Kathy was the first female 1,000 point scorer for Bishop Shanahan, and excelled on the court at La Salle University, where she played in the NCAA tournament.

As Villa’s long-time basketball coach, “McCart” has compiled a record of 588 wins, 15 league championships, 10 District 1 titles, and several runs into state play.

But Kathy’s biggest contribution has been the impact she has had on the lives of young women, teaching leadership, determination, perseverance, and teamwork to countless Villa Maria students.

Kathy was inducted into the Hall on Saturday night. She was joined at the celebration by her family, friends, co-workers, and some past and present players. Kathy was also cheered on by two other members of the Hall of Fame: Maurene Polley, Villa’s long-time multi-sport coach and athletic director, and Cathy Hay, Villa’s swim coach. Villa Maria is proud to be so well represented!

Congratulations Coach Kathy McCartney!
