Musicians and Dancers Celebrate the Holiday at Christmas Concert

Villa Maria musicians celebrated the Christmas season at the annual concert with all of the school’s musical performers: Orchestra, Handbell Choir, Madrigal Singers, String Ensemble, and Concert Chorus.

Evening Concert

The chorus and orchestra joined forces to open the show with “Do You Hear What I Hear.” The orchestra followed with performances of “A Holst Christmas” and “A Christmas Festival.”

The Handbell Choir played four songs: “Were You There on that Christmas Night,” “I Wonder as I Wander,” “‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime,” and “Mistletoe and Holly.”

Dance Company

Villa Maria’s Dance Company joined the show this year, and danced two pieces: “That’s Christmas to Me,” and “Underneath the Christmas Tree.”

The Madrigal Singers followed the dancers, singing “Rise Up in Festive Song,” “Il est né, le divin Enfant,” “Mary’s Lullaby,” and, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” The String Ensemble joined the singers for a performance of “A Holiday Festival,” and then performed “Christmas Concerto, Mvt.3” and “Traditions of Christmas.”

The Concert Chorus returned to sing “A Carol Tapestry,” “Deck the Halls with Beethoven, Bach, & Brahms,” and, “Sleigh Bells.”

The Chorus, Orchestra and Handbell Choir joined together in the finale, performing “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.”

Congratulations to all of the Villa Maria musicians and dancers on an excellent concert.
