Undeterred by rain and fog, Villa Maria officially opened the Christmas season on campus with the annual tree lighting. Students, staff and family began by singing traditional Christmas carols. Students then lit the first candle on the Advent wreath, and hung ornaments representing each class.
The group processed out to the tree in front of school. Girls read several brief reflections on the meaning of the Christmas tree and its lights before flipping the switch to light the tree for the first time. All adjourned to the cafeteria for refreshments.
