Mrs. Sarah Bacastow’s AP Art History class, accompanied by art teacher Mrs. Diane Mallon, took a field trip to the Gallery 222 in Malvern. The gallery owner, Andrea Strang, spoke with the students about what it’s like to own an art gallery and all that it entails, including marketing and how she finds the artists that exhibit their art work there.
Students also had the pleasure of meeting well known local artist Randall Graham, an artist and teacher who rents an art studio space on the second floor of the gallery. “Mr. Graham showed us around his studio space, and spoke with the students about being a working artist, marketing your work, and how to follow your passion.,” Mrs. Bacastow said. “It was an amazing experience.”
The students will write papers about paintings that particularly resonated with them, and about and their experience at the gallery.
Gallery 222 hosts monthly art openings open to the public, and is open by appointment during the week. Their website is gallery222malvern.com. If anyone is interested in taking painting lessons with Randall Graham, or to see more of his artwork, his website is www.randallgraham.com/.
