Mock Trial Team Advances in County Competition

The Villa Maria Trial team won 2 trials to secure a spot in the semifinals for the Chester County Regional Competition. They competed against 17 teams and finished in the top 4. This is the 2nd year in a row they have advanced this far.  The semi-final trials take place on February 27 in the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester.

Coach Cristina McLachlan said, “The students are dedicated and so hard working. I am amazed with their skills and their confidence. They take on their roles as attorneys and witnesses as if they’ve been doing this for  years, but it’s actually the first time for  some of them. Our attorney advisor Mr. Joseph Mattson provides invaluable help and we are very grateful for his advice and encouragement.”

In January, the team earned  an honorable mention at the the annual Blue-Gold Invitational Mock Trial Tournament La Salle University. The girls won 3 out of the 4 trials in which they participated, placing 5th overall out of 42 teams.

Mr. Mattson commented, “Christina McLachlan has done a great job in encouraging the girls to perform well. The students have truly worked as a team and deserve congratulations.”
