Softball Team Celebrates Seniors

The softball team kicked off its senior day on April 30 with flowers, and then went on to defeat Mount St. Joseph 13-7. Prior to the game, each senior received flowers and posed for photos with their parents.

The Hurricanes are 12-2, with four games left in the regular season.

The Hurricanes got out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning, thanks to a Mount error, a big triple by Mary Willcox, and a solid single by Fiona McDaid. They added 2 more in the second inning, and another in the fifth.

Overall Villa Maria had 19 hits to Mount’s 13. Riley Miller, Fiona McDaid, Fran Delviscio, Natalie Bacallao, Mary Willcox, Ana Ciarrocchi, and Sarah Gosselin all had multiple hits for Villa, with Delviscio, McDaid, and Miller tallying 3 hits apiece.

Villa sealed the game with 6 runs in the sixth inning, thanks to RBIs from by Bacallao, Fran Delviscio, Mary Willcox, and Riley Miller.

Pitcher Alyssa Viscardo allowed 13 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out 12.
