Track and Field Team Wins AACA Championship

Villa Maria’s Track and Field team won the AACA Championships on Wednesday, May 8, besting Mount St Joseph buy a score of 172 to 158.

The Hurricanes scored in 16 out of 18 events contested. Anna Nunag cfinished 2nd in the 400m and 4th in the 200m. Dylan Miller was 3rd in the 800m, and Hope Brown was 4th.
In the 1600m, Sarah Raubenheimer was 2nd and qualified for Districts, while Carly Ukalovic was 3rd and Caroline Bell was 4th.
3200m 2nd Sarah Raubenheimer also finished 2nd in the 3200, and Carky was 4th. 100hurdles 3rd Alexis Sapnas was 3rd in the 100 hurdles, and Ally Metzger was 3rd in the 300 hurdles.

In the relays, Villa was 1st in the 4 x 400m, and 2nd in the 4 x 100m and 4 x 800m. Ally Metzger finished 4th in both the long jump and the triple jump. Kara Schiek was 32rd in the high jump.

The Hurricanes were strong in the throwing events. A’sja Abron was 1st in the shot put, Emily Deacon was 3rd, and Carina Chieffalo was 6th. Kara Schiek won the discus, while Norah Bice took 2nd, Rachel Carpenter 3rd, Katie Scaggs 4th, and Emily Deacon 5th. In javelin, Kara Schiek was 1st, Caroline Ludt 3rd, Norah Bice 4th, Alivia Oriveto 5th, and Carina Chieffalo 6th.
