Summit Performance Consultants are working with Villa Maria athletes this school year on Mental Toughness Training. Students participated in their first session on Thursday, September 26.
The training is designed to both mental and life skills to help participants excel on the field and in the classroom. Students will learn skills like imagery, attentional focus, and emotional management, as well as work through topics like resilience, leadership, and conflict management. Participants can expect to develop a better sense of awareness that will help them self-regulate in athletics and academics, leading to better performance and — importantly — increased enjoyment.
Topics that will be covered during the year include goal setting, imagery, focus and self-talk, confidence, leadership, relaxation and energy management, motivation, emotional management, resilience, imagery, leadership, confidence, conflict management, and attributions.
