Villa Maria’s Indoor Track and Field team has been picking up momentum after the holiday break. Coach Maggie Brill reports that the athletes are starting to find their form and have been picking up personal bests, season bests and finishing in the top of their competitive field.
After a January 17 competition at the Lehigh University, senior Carly Ukalovic and sophomore Alexis Sapnas achieved Meet of Champions marks in the mile and 60m hurdles, respectively. These marks also put Carly 25th and Alexis 12th in the state’s weekly top 25 performances list.
Junior Dylan Miller also ran the 22nd best time of the week, clocking in 2:27.42 for 800m at Ursinus College. The team’s field event top 25 performance came from junior Ally Metzger in the long jump, with a 16′ 1.5″ jump ranking her 19th for the week.
Next the Track and Field team will be heading out to the Ocean Breeze Invitational on Staten Island, NY, where 4000+ girls will be competing.
