World Language Week Brings a Taste of Other Cultures

The World Language Department celebrated Foreign Language Week March 2-6. Each day the cafeteria was decorated and the menu included cuisine from the various countries and cultures being celebrated (Greek, Spanish, Latin, French, Chinese, and Japanese). Highlights included a Spanish cooking lesson after school on Tuesday, Olympic Games after school on Wednesday, and a crêpe sale after school on Thursday to benefit the Mission Drive.

French teacher Sarah Carroll celebrated World Language Week in a combined event with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Senior French students held a “Taste of India” potluck lunch. Students brought in dishes including saag paneer, dal tadka, yellow lentils and rice, chickpeas and potatoes, kidney beans, samosa, and naan bread. The girls enjoyed trying some new foods, including green chili peppers.
