Classes have resumed in-person at Villa Maria with everyone wearing masks at all times, and many distancing measures in place. The campus facilities staff worked all summer creating more space in classrooms, setting up one-way foot traffic paths, installing protective barriers in the cafeteria, and adding spaced seating outdoors. Teachers and students are taking advantage of the warm September weather to hold classes or eat lunch outside.
Inside the classroom, new technology is enabling students to attend classes from home, using Zoom to see and participate in classroom activities. The teacher sets up a Zoom meeting for the remote students, and uses a camera to show the entire class onscreen. The student at home sees everyone in the classroom, and the students on campus can see and talk with their remote classmate onscreen.
