Villa Maria marked the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the annual Founders Day event. Advancement Director and longtime staff member and coach Kathy McCartney presented flowers, and the school staff sent gifts to the convent for the sisters to enjoy later.
The theme of the assembly was “Lifted by Hope.” Students, faculty and staff submitted artwork, writing, dance, and even baton twirling to answer the questions, “Where did you see hope today?”; “What lifted you up?”; and, “Who lifted you up?” Participants shared their talents and insights into how they, their families, friends and fellow students are moved by hope.
The day’s theme of connected to the IHM charism: Love, which continues to manifest itself today in the sisters’ joyful service of God and his people; creative Hope, which puts all its confidence in God’s loving Providence; and Fidelity, which inspires fervor in their vocation in Christ and in their mission in the Church.
Congratulations to the IHM Sisters on 175 years of selfless, faithful service to God, his people, and especially the Villa Maria community.
