“Recognizing that each one of us is a link in a chain of God’s Redeeming Love, we lift up our brothers and sisters everywhere.”
Villa Maria held a Lenten prayer service focusing on the links that connect the Villa Maria community, and the gifts and needs of its members. After readings and song focusing on Holy Week, students watching in homerooms made chains from the individual links they have been wearing on their lanyards since Ash Wednesday. As the school community gathered on the convent lawn, Peer Ministers carried the chains to the circle, where they joined the segments to form a whole, and placed it in the shape of a heart before the statue of Mary and Jesus.
Students also carried cards on which they had written words or phrases that described their need for support, as well the gifts they bring to others. Students placed the cards in basket next to the chain before returning silently to homerooms.
