The Hurricanes are off to a strong start to the 2021-22 soccer season, with wins over the Mount, Merion Mercy, and Gwynedd Mercy, and two victories over Nazareth. The team’s lone defeat was to Villa Joe.
Coach Gary Christopher believes the outlook for this team is great. “This is my 17th year coaching soccer at Villa, and I have never seen a team with more offensive playmakers than this team,” he says. “We are on pace to shatter the school goal-scoring records for a team. The girls are technically skilled and athletically gifted with an abundance of grit and determination.”
The coach says that each class is well represented. “We even have 5 freshmen who play significant minutes for us,” he notes. “We are led by a trio of captains: senior Peyton Coron, senior Alyssa Kinmartin, and junior Kaelyn Wolfe.”
Coach Christopher is optimistic, but focused on the next game. “We are having fun playing this season and we are excited for the rest of our season. On Monday we play a highly touted Villa Joseph Marie team. Villa Joe beat us in our first game of the year for our only loss thus far, we will need to play our best to defeat them.”
