Basketball Celebrates Seniors

Hurricanes basketball honored its senior members on Thursday, January 20, before their game against Nazareth. Each girl was called forward with her parents, and others and players received flowers. The team also honored senior cheerleaders.

Coach Kathy McCartney has praise for the resilience of these seniors. “This year’s senior class has had one ‘normal’ high school season. They had their sophomore season ended early by the COVID shutdown. Their junior season was played with no spectators and a very limited schedule. And now their senior season continues to be interrupted by COVID. These young women have been so determined and so resilient. These are traits that will serve them long after their basketball careers have ended.”

“This year the seniors have helped position us for the AACA play-offs,” she said. “We are currently in 2nd place and we are looking forward to a great postseason run.  Go ‘Canes!”

Congratulations to all the seniors on their athletic careers at Villa Maria!
