Entrance-Scholarship Exam

Villa Maria administers the High School Placement Test (HSPT) as our Entrance-Scholarship Exam

  • We encourage 8th grade students to join us for Villa Maria’s Entrance-Scholarship Exam this fall.
8th grade students may take the exam on September 23, October 15, or November 1.

  • Note: If you were unable to take the Entrance-Scholarship Exam at one of Villa Maria's scheduled sessions this fall, please contact Mrs. Kelly Broadway in the Admissions Department to discuss alternatives

  • For the September and October options only, there will also be a Parent Q&A session in the Marian Center Auditorium at approximately 9:00 a.m.

The HSPT is an important indication of future academic success at Villa Maria. For accepted students, the HSPT results will be used by our departments to inform placement. Results of the exam are mailed shortly after results are received.

Submitting Scores from Other Schools

If you are not able to join us for the Villa Maria Entrance-Scholarship exams, we do accept HSPT scores taken at other schools. Beginning Fall of 2023, prospective students submitting HSPT scores from another high school are also eligible for consideration of an academic scholarship.

If your student took the exam at a parochial grade school during the week of September 25th, it is unclear whether families will receive those results by our application deadline. Please plan to take the HSPT at Villa Maria or another high school in order to submit a timely HSPT testing result. Testing elsewhere? Let us know at this link!

The admissions committee will accept the highest HSPT score submitted; we do not super score exams. We continue to encourage students to take the test more than once, especially at high schools that students are actively considering.

Please contact admissions@vmahs.org with any questions.
