Villa Maria administers the High School Placement Test (HSPT) as our Entrance-Scholarship Exam. Test dates for the Class of 2029 will take place on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, October 20, 2024.

 

A Villa Maria application must be on file in the Admissions Office by the application deadline, November 6, 2024, before a student can be considered for a scholarship. Learn about applying here.

Complete the Dance Scholarship Application under Fine Arts Scholarships in the Application Checklist no later than Wednesday, November 13, 2024. By applying for the Dance Scholarship, you are also simultaneously applying for the VMA Dance Company. Scholarship applications open on September 1, 2024.

Please have your current dance instructor send a letter of recommendation to Ms. Christie Lawler, Dance Company Director, at clawler@vmahs.org using the subject line: “Dance Scholarship Recommendation: STUDENT NAME”). The letter of recommendation must be received by November 13, 2024.

Applicants will be required to attend an in-person audition on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 1:15 pm. on Villa's campus. The first part of the audition will run as an open class; a warm-up, progressions, and short combination will be taught to evaluate technical level for class placement. 

Scholarship applicants are also asked to prepare a one-minute solo to perform at the end of the audition in ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, or contemporary featuring the following movements; pirouette both en dehors and en dedans, grande jeté and/or developpé leaps, grand battement with both right and left leg, movement to and from the floor.

The audition is private. Parents are not permitted to watch the audition. If you are unable to attend the in-person audition, please contact Ms. Lawler at clawler@vmahs.org as soon as possible.

The scholarship will be awarded by mid-December 2024. 

The Dance Scholarship is renewable each year based on the following criteria:

• Student understands and follows the IHM Charism and upholds Villa Maria Academy’s Core Values.
• Student is in good standing academically and has a conduct grade no lower than passing (P).
• Student maintains an A in all dance courses.
• Student remains an active member of the Dance Company for all four years.
