Fine Arts Scholarships

Villa Maria offers three types of Fine Arts scholarships each year: Dance, Music, and Visual Arts.


Dance Scholarship

The Dance Scholarship is awarded to an advanced dancer based upon her individual audition. The $600 Dance Scholarship will cover course fees and costumes. Applications for the Class of 2027 are due by Wednesday, November 16, 2022Note: this application window has closed and applications are no longer being accepted. Students interested in the Dance Scholarship must complete the following:

Dance Scholarship auditions will be held in late November or early December. The date and time are to be determined. The scholarship will be awarded by mid-December 2022. 

The Dance Scholarship is renewable each year based on the following criteria:

  • Student understands and follows the IHM Charism and upholds Villa Maria Academy’s Core Values.
  • Student is in good standing academically and has a conduct grade no lower than passing (P).
  • Student maintains an A in all dance courses.
  • Student takes Dance Company 9th-12th grade.

Music Scholarships

Music Scholarships are awarded to advanced musicians based upon individual auditions as well as department needs. Music Scholarships cover one year’s tuition for music instruction. Applications for the Class of 2027 are due by Wednesday November 16, 2022. Note: this application window has closed and applications are no longer being accepted. Students interested in a Music Scholarship must complete the following:

Music scholarships will be awarded by mid-December 2022. 

Music scholarships are renewable each year based on the following criteria:

  • Student understands and follows the IHM Charism and upholds Villa Maria Academy’s Core Values.
  • Student must participate in at least one or more of Villa Maria’s Music Department Ensemble.
  • Student must communicate effectively and provide exemplary membership to music activities.
  • Student must only take the music lesson at Villa Maria and receive additional help from Sister Dolores once a week.
  • Student must perform at various school events and activities, especially “Carol and Ring” in December.
  • Student must maintain an “A” average in music and remain in good standing academically overall.
  • Student must make music her first priority in the selection of activities and electives.

Other scholarships may be available under special circumstances.

Visual Arts Scholarships

Visual Arts Scholarships are awarded to talented and promising artists based upon a portfolio submission and artist’s statement. Class of 2027 scholarship applications for the $1,000 Visual Arts Scholarship are due by Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Note: this application window has closed and applications are no longer being accepted. Students interested in the Visual Arts Scholarship must complete the following:

Three semi-finalists will be chosen and notified by late November, 2022. Those semi-finalists will need to schedule an interview with the Art Instructor, Mrs. Kate Brown. The scholarship will be awarded by mid-December 2022.

One student will be the recipient of the Visual Arts Scholarship. It will be renewable each year based on the following criteria:

  • Student understands and follows the IHM Charism and upholds Villa Maria Academy’s Core Values.
  • Student is in good standing academically and has a conduct grade no lower than passing (P).
  • Student maintains an A in all art courses.
  • Student participates in and helps with Freshman Art Club and Sophomore Art Club.
  • Student takes the following courses:
    • 9th Grade: Studio 1
    • 10th Grade: Studio 2 (can also take a .25 credit elective)
    • 11th Grade: Art Major (can also take AP Art History and/or one or two .25 credit electives)
    • 12th Grade: AP Studio Art or Honors Advanced Art Major (can also take AP Art History and/or one or two .25 credit electives)
