ENRICHMENT CAMPS


Studio Art Camp

June 24-27, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Grades: Rising 6-9; Co-Ed

Join us for four days of creativity, exploration, and fun! We will create original drawings, paintings, and collages from observation and imagery using a variety of materials. We will explore a range of artistic styles that will be incorporated into our individual work. No experience is necessary. 


Advanced Art Camp

June 24-27, 2024 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Grades: Rising 9-12; Co-Ed

Study advanced art techniques for high school students in June at Villa Maria! This workshop investigates various aspects of visual arts, encompassing a wide range of mediums and styles. Students will engage in hands-on projects, expand their technical proficiency, and work in a variety of materials. Some art knowledge or experience is expected. 


English Readiness Camp

June 24-27, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Grades: Incoming Villa Maria 9th Graders Only

Incoming Villa Maria freshmen are invited to attend the English Readiness Workshop. The goal of this workshop is to provide English enrichment and build confidence to bridge the skill gap from 8th to 9th grade. 

Topics covered:

- Writing: mechanics, usage, and grammar
- Literary analysis: how to annotate and interpret a text
- Introduction to the five-paragraph essay

Leadership Camp

Be the leader! Don’t follow the leader! Sign up for this high-energy, interactive, action-packed leadership camp. Learn various leadership skills and methods necessary for you to become the leader in your school, on your team, in your club, or in your activity. No matter what your interests, this leadership camp will give you the skills necessary to be a leader and not just another follower! 


Math Readiness Camp

July 15-19, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
Grades: Incoming Villa Maria 9th Graders Only

At Math Readiness Camp, rising 9th grade students will review key concepts from previous math courses while honing their computational skills. The camp allows students to experience math at Villa Maria before officially beginning the school year in August. Topics will include: operations with fractions, operations with rational numbers, order of operations, rates, ratios, percents, evaluating expressions, solving linear equations, and graphing linear equations.

Need to brush up on your notetaking skills? What about your planner? Do you need some help with goal setting and time management? If so, this camp is for you. The morning session is for incoming Villa 9th graders and will help with high school preparation. The afternoon session is designed for middle school students.

Topics covered include notebook organization (binders, spiral notebooks, apps, Google Drive), in-class note-taking best practices (handwritten vs. digital notes, reorganizing notes), notes at home and studying best practices, and planning/goal setting (setting up a planner, determining a study schedule). Please bring a notebook and an iPad. For any questions about camp content or materials, please contact Ms. Yost at kyost@vmahs.org


Villa Maria Music Boot Camp

July 22-26, 2024 from 9 a.m to 12 noon
Ages: 8 and Up; Co-Ed
Instruments: All instruments, including harp

*Qualified participants may also register for Orchestra Camp for a full day of instruction and a $100 discount. Select "Music Boot Camp and Orchestra Camp" on registration form.  

This camp is perfect for students who are preparing for competitions and auditions or those who simply wish to improve their overall playing. This camp offers a complete individualized intense setting with practice check-ins every 20 minutes by faculty assistants; also includes daily group sessions and daily stretching or walk break. Friday includes a solo performance opportunity at 4 p.m. Note: registrants will be contacted regarding a recommendation letter or in-person interview with Ms. Leah.

Creative Writing Camp

July 29-August 2, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Come spend a week exploring creative writing in a workshop-style camp with other middle school students! We’ll be trying out writing strategies, finding new sources for inspiration, and experimenting with different genres all in a supportive and welcoming environment. Our activities will be varied to keep inspiration fresh. We’ll explore different settings for writing across the week, perhaps even venturing outdoors, weather permitting! No experience or skills required, just a willingness to delve into self-expression through words.

Camps include 4 days of field hockey skills and tactical drills along with game play on Villa’s turf field. They also include Skills and strategy training to prep players for the next level.

The Villa Maria Basketball Camp is for grades 4 to 10 and introduces the campers to every phase of the game, and includes: individualized instruction, instructional films and theory, valuable guest speakers, and daily contests and games!

Youth athletes entering grades 3rd to 9th grade, come join us for lacrosse summer camp! Camp is run by coaches both at the Collegiate level and our very own Villa Maria High School players. Learn from the best, while improving your physical and mental performance.

Soccer Camp

Learn ball handling skills, soccer speed and agility, ball striking, passing and receiving. Camp will feature small-sided and full-field games. Join other rising 5th through 9th graders at this camp!

Rowing Camp

This one-week camp is designed to give prospective rowers an introduction to the sport. Our camp will focus on the basics of sweep rowing (one oar) and coxswains (athlete that steers the crew). The sessions are coached by Villa Maria’s rowing coaching staff: Head Coach Liz Miller and Assistant Coach Alair Southerton.

Summer Series Faculty

SUMMER CAMP SERIES
REFUND POLICY

Villa Maria Academy will refund the full registration if registration is cancelled three weeks prior to the start of the camp series or class start dates (May 20, 2024).  The summer series begins on June 10, 2024. 

REFUND POLICY FOR ENRICHMENT CAMPS
Should a student need to cancel their registration for a summer camp, the following would be in place:

50% refund up to 14 days prior to camp start date.
25% refund up to 10 days prior to camp start date
No refund offered for any cancellation 5 days prior or after the start of camp.

CANCELLATION POLICY
It is acknowledged that the class or camp is staffed and run for a minimum number of registrations.  If a class needs to be cancelled by the school due to low enrollment or other reason, a full refund would be given to any registrant due to the school’s cancellation.
