GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

National Association of Secondary Schools Principals

  • Awards:
    • The NHS Scholarship has 375 national semifinalists – $2,325 scholarship;
      24 national finalists – $4,500 scholarship; 1 national winner – $20,125 scholarship.
    • The Prudential Spirit of Community winner will receive the President’s Volunteer Award and a keepsake medallion, become eligible for an unrestricted award of $1,000 or more and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D. C. next Spring for four days of special recognition events.
  • Requirements: Varied- High School Seniors who are in good NHS standings or, have participated in community service activities over the past year.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

  • Award: $10,000 annually for four years, for a total of $40,000.
  • Requirements:
    • African-American high school seniors with US citizenship.
    • Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation

  • Award: This highly competitive scholarship includes:
    • Up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school
    • Ability to pursue any area of study
    • Personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid
    • Multifaceted advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience
  • Requirements: At a minimum, applicants must:
    • Plan to graduate from a US high school in spring 2017
    • Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2017
    • Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above
    • SAT combined critical reading and math score of 1200 (based on the old SAT scores) or above and/or ACT composite score of 26 or above
    • We will consider applicants with family income up to $95,000. However, we anticipate that a majority of scholarship recipients will be eligible to receive a Pell grant

Society of Women Engineers

  • Award: In 2016, SWE awarded approximately 230 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $750,000.
  • Requirements: The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women studying baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science.

National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation

  • Requirements: NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards are open to any graduating high school senior entering their freshman year at an accredited (not for profit) two- or four-year university, college or vocational/technical institute. Applicants MUST be running their own small business in order to be considered for an award.
  • Award: This year, thanks to VISA, 95 Awards will be $2000 each, 3 Awards will be $10,000 each, 1 Award will be $15,000, and 1 will be $25,000

Fireside Essay Scholarship

  • Award: 5 students will receive $1,000 each.
  • Requirements: Interested high school seniors complete and submit an essay of 750 words: “How is your religious education influencing your life?”

Pennsylvania American Legion Scholarships

  • Awards:
    • Essay Contest: 1st place $3,500 scholarship, 2nd place $3,000, 3rd $2,500.
    • Oratorical Contest: 1st place $7,500 scholarship, 2nd place $5,000, 3rd $4,000.
    • Sebastianelli Drum Corps Scholarship: Winner receives $500.
    • Joseph P. Gavenonis Scholarship: Winner receives $500.
    • Robert W. Valimont Endowment: Winner receives $500.
    • Robert Trace Essay Contest: Winner receives $500.  
  • Requirements: Essay and oratorical contests apply to any high school student and vary by category. Personalized venues are for a child/ grandchild of a PA Legionnaire living or deceased.  See website for full details.

  • Award: $1,000 or $5,000
  • Requirements: All college-bound high school seniors in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware are eligible to receive an RMHC scholarship.

    • RMHC®/African American Future Achievers for African American high school seniors
    • RMHC®/Hispanic American Commitment to Education Resources (HACER®) for Latino high school seniors

  • Award: Several $6,000/year renewable scholarships
  • Requirements: Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale. Completed all the required admissions applications, and a 500 word essay.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

  • Award: 50 renewable scholarships up to $25,000 for undergraduate studies
  • Requirements: High school senior with a passion for success in science, technology, engineering and mathematics

Anna M. Vincent Scholarship

  • Award: $1000-$5000
  • Requirements: Must be a resident of one of the counties surrounding Philadelphia area (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery Counties in Pennsylvania and Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey.) The Trustees will make awards to students worthy of financial assistance and of high scholastic standing and good character. Students also must have a part-time paying job while in high school.

  • Award: In Memory of Hugh Carcella, Former Director of District 7, 6 four-year scholarships of $4,000 each will be awarded.
  • Requirements: Must be the child or legal ward of a current or retired member of U S District 10, and plan to acquire a four-year college degree.

Main Line Martin Luther King Association

  • Requirements: Any high school senior graduate who lives, worships, or attends school along the Main Line, and planning to attend an institution of higher learning qualifies to be an applicant.  Must write a 500-word essay on community service, provide a transcript and a letter of recommendation from a counselor, principal, religious leader, or community leader.

  • Award: Awards range from $300-$2,500
  • Requirements: High school senior with a 3.0 GPA and renewable with a 3.0 GPA
  • Study may include but is not limited to: carpentry, horticulture, fine arts, brick masonry, cabinetmaking, glassworking, or painting and wall covering.
