Outreach, an outward-facing part of Mission and Ministry, is committed to four annual projects. Additional outreach efforts are always considered as the Villa community senses a need.
Thanksgiving Food Collection
The Thanksgiving food collection benefits local families. Each homeroom fills a basket with enough food for a complete holiday meal. Students bring in non-perishable items, and members of Outreach purchase turkeys and pies to add to each basket.
Typically, twelve of the baskets are distributed through the outreach programs of St. Agnes Parish, West Chester and twelve go to the program of St. Patrick Parish, Norristown.
The Mission Drive provides financial support to one or two of many missions in the United States or outside of the country.
Recent drives raised money for St. Mary Mission in Tohatchi, NM, which serves the local Navajo community, and the St. Bernard Project, a national organization headquartered in New Orleans and working in disaster recovery. Student groups from Villa Maria have volunteered for both organizations during service trips at Easter break and in the summer.
The Easter Project to benefit the IHM Sisters at Camilla Hall. Students collect and distribute hundreds of air fresheners to the sisters, spending time with the sisters as they deliver the air fresheners personally.
Canned Food Drive
A Canned Food Drive supports those in need through St. Agnes Day Room in West Chester, PA.
